Living gluten free is like living a new adventure. A gluten free diet is a challenge in itself as it is something that you need to follow thoroughly or else waste previous efforts. Challenge in living gluten free first comes when you find yourself in a restaurant. One look at the menu and you know there is nothing in there for you. It may come to mind that you might as well have brought your own food or just drool at the menu facing the food you can’t have.
Declining food served at parties can be a challenge too living gluten free when you know not so long ago you were enjoying a plateful. That is the gluten free life. It is a fact you can’t deny. Also, since most of the food you like don’t have a gluten free match, it would be quite difficult.
If you live in a big city, it won’t pose much of a challenge as supermarkets have lots of gluten free alternatives for you. Gluten free challenge comes when you’re in a small town. Smaller groceries don’t usually have that kind of stuff like gluten free products on their shelves. You instead go out with empty hands thinking well, this is my gluten free life!
There is always an appropriate action for every posing challenge in living gluten free. Being proactive can be a great help. Eating a little at home with your gluten free meal before going out with friends to dinner is one way of being proactive. Facing a menu with no choice for you, but with a full stomach will never be a problem. You’ll still enjoy good conversation.
